On Our Way

After my retirement party on 7-9-13 was over and our home was sold and no longer ours, we left Logan and  headed for Salt Lake. We made reservations to stay at Pony Express RV Resort in North Salt Lake. It was a nice park with a recreation room, pool, laundry, etc. The only down side is it was mostly cement with a few little strips of grass between each space. Living in a mobile or camping setting takes some getting used to and not being claustrophobic helps!

We wanted to spend our month doing lots of things with Samantha and Elise, and Caradon, Brad and their boys!  We did accomplish that with Samantha but not as much as we would have liked with Caradon. Samantha and Elise came to see us often or we went to their home in Salt Lake.  We went shopping, out to lunch, to a movie etc. They took me to a Vegan Bistro one day and that was a fun time. We also went to the Saturday market at Pioneer Park. It was the biggest market I ever saw and lots of wonderful produce , music and vendors galore.

One Sunday we had gone up to Park City with the girls and went to the Sunday market there which was smaller but fun. Afterwards, we went into a neat store called World Market and were browsing around. I turned a corner and there were Cindy J and Michelle H, my buddies from Sunshine Terrace! Cindy had been at a training and Mic had picked her up at the airport and they like the Market too. It had been not quite two weeks since I had left Logan so it was fun to see them ..I hope we can always stay connected to our Logan friends..

Another pleasant surprise was when one afternoon in late July, my dear supervisor and friend from work Leanne, came to visit us .. It was so nice to have her come spend some time with us.

Another day we got to go to Samantha’s last day of her summer camp where she was the lead counselor. She had done one of her awesome videos that she makes and the kids loved it! It was a joy to see her interact with these special children. She and Elise are both choosing careers of working with children and they will be so wonderful.

On an earlier note, when we first got to Salt Lake, we were able to meet Grandma Roberta and Sue Morgan and went to dinner with them and attended a beautiful concert at Abravanel Hall with the Utah symphony chorus and the wonderful violinist Jenny Oaks Baker. She makes her violin sing and Elder L Tom Perry of the LDS Church leadership was sitting right behind us and a very friendly gentleman.

We went down to Orem a few times when Don was helping with projects for Caradon’s home. Our grandsons play well together and we hope their hearing and sight challenges will be overcome. We were able to take Chase and Taylor out to McDonalds one day and they had a fun time with Nana and Papa.

The days in the RV park  were often hard because of the extreme heat and our air conditioning not really being effective enough. Almost daily I went up to the pool and did my water exercises which helps my back.
Right before we left, we had an  early birthday party for Caradon and Brad in the party room at Pony Express. I reserved the room and we had a fun afternoon playing pool, swimming, and having a bar b que.  Samantha and Elise were there also and we then said our good byes for now to Caradon and family. Later after we left, our grandson Chase had a cornea transplant which was thankfully successful and Taylor will be getting fitted for a hearing aid.

Lastly although I might be forgetting things like daily walks in the evening around the park, we took Samantha and Elise up into Emigration Canyon to a very well known restaurant Ruth’s Diner for a very pleasant outdoor breakfast. Samantha got a kick out of watching her mama ride their scooter around the parking lot without injuring myself!

So the month in Salt Lake ended and we packed up and went to Logan for a day on August 6th . We needed to switch out some things in our storage unit and stayed in front of Troy Johnsons home. Then we gave hugs to dear friends again and were on our way to Seattle !
